Although of course I sympathized with his plight I felt that even making the trip to pick up the car would be hazardous to him and others. Somehow I was unable to calculate the liability factor of selling a car to someone who I now knew with reasonable certainty had no intention of making sure it was safe, registering it, or get a road test sticker. He intended to drive it illegally in any condition. Also he didn't seem to understand that I was about two hours drive away and that he had no means to get here. I went through the cabinets, my office, my bag, my car and anywhere else there might be snacks stashed. Gone! I am not saying I will not eat them anymore. No, that would not be realistic.
